Michelle K. aka ~thegadgetfish, from USA

1. So, tell us something about yourself. And say Hi to your fans :)

Hi everyone!

2. How did you know about and get into Cosplaying?

I went to my first anime convention in 2004, and everyone looked amazing in cosplay. I wanted to be a part of that.

3. Can you share your first cosplay experience and what character did you portray? How long have you been cosplaying?

My fist costume was actually Itachi from Naruto. My grandma made the costume, while I just made the props and accessories. It was definitely a rush, and just interacting with everyone was really fun.

4. How long have you been cosplaying?

I 'started' in 2005, but that was mostly small props and things. I made my first full outfit in 2008.

5. What makes you want to cosplay?

The feeling you get after everything is put together, and you stare at the mirror and it's like, "Awesome".

6. Which character is your favorite one that you've cosplayed so far?

Get Avatar The Legend of Korra Amon Cosplay Idea-interview with thegadgetfish

Golbez (FFIV) is my favorite. He's just huge and badass.

7. Have you had the experience of a cosplay gone bad, or encoutered some problems while cosplaying? What are those?

I had a bad experience with my Amon cosplay, where the legplates broke during the morning of the con and I had nothing to fix it with. Luckily, I had a giant sticker in my pack, so I just ripped it up and somehow everything held together. Talk about stressful, though!

Which aspect of cosplay do you prefer: making garments, creating accessories, crafting props, makeup/prosthetics, etc?

Creating props, by far.

9. For your Amon cosplay, what preparations have you done?

Get Avatar The Legend of Korra Amon Cosplay Idea-interview with thegadgetfish

I suppose the same preparations as other cosplays, just stare at a lot of reference images, and sketch ideas/potential problems/etc in a notepad.

10. Do you observe some similarities in all the characters you've cosplayed? What similarities would it be if yes?

Most of them have my face covered!

11. What future cosplays are you planning?

I've been thinking about a Borderlands 2 Zero cosplay for about a year now. I've yet to actually work on it, though.

12. What's your dream cosplay?

Always wanted to make an Ironman suit!

13. Would you consider yourself as an Amateur or a Pro-cosplayer?

Amateur, definitely. I'm not nearly as productive as other cosplayers!

14. Aside from cosplaying, what other things keep you busy in life?

Get Avatar The Legend of Korra Amon Cosplay Idea-interview with thegadgetfish

I program games for a living, and snowboard all winter.

15. And aside from cosplay events/cons, do you dress up at home or out in the public?

Does halloween count?

16. Do you see yourself still cosplaying 5-10 years from now?

Yes, or at the very least, i'll continue making props. I had a year or 2 where I stopped cosplaying, and I definitely missed it.

17. What advice can you share to your fellow cosplayers and cosplay virgins?

Just do it! Don't give yourself any limits or restrictions. All projects can be broken down into small pieces, so just start working on something.

Cosplay Review-Get The Legend of Korra Amon Cosplay idea

Here we have the newest addition to the growing avatar cosplays and we welcome the anti-bending “Amon”! The user known as “thegadgetfish”, has put together a well round up cosplay costume that finally shows an Amon that looks as mysterious and raw as he does in the anime. What is more so amazing is that the mask has been created by the cosplayer himself. It is very hard to find a good Amon mask, as the others that float around the net look cheap and amateur and pretty much, not Amon like. This cosplayer strikes the pose which brings out what Amon is really all about. The padded armour which showcases a very oriental theme and the hooded suite to match everything together really makes the character stand out and not look out of place of shifty.  Also the colours on the costume are fabulous. The dark colours make it a very close rendition but keep the entire costume grounded with the shiny shoulder pads and arm pads. With all the previous renditions you wouldn’t be afraid to run into an Amon, but you wouldn’t want run into this Amon in real life, as the moves look smooth and not forced with a hint of genius behind him with the water fountain. He showcases his other photos which put him head to head with other favourite Avatar characters.  With all that said it’s quite a costume that I could see be popular among that fans. Especially that it looks comfortable to be in (unless it’s a hot day) and would actually make you feel like the character itself. Not just from the inside but the outside as every intricate detail, from the padded areas to the darker areas with different materials. The mask itself brings the entire attire together, and I’m sure if there was an anti-air bender to come into force into our world, he’d be looking for “thegadgetfish” for his costume closet. Cosplay Review-Get RWBY Cosplay idea From Sorayomi

Now look what we have here! Our eyes have the pleasure to see Blake in RWBY revived in spectacular fashion in this cosplay costume from the user “Sorayomi”. Together with her Gambol Shroud katana, this costume is a near exact copy from the actual anime (let alone the lady in the costume) of the subtle Blake. What really makes this cosplay costume so great is the simplistic details added to both costume and prop. It is very natural and little editing (if not none) went into this actual photograph which is a really hard feat since re-creating anime characters requires a little bit of Photoshop magic. Never less this flawless portrayal is eye candy for any RWBY fan. The detail in the Katana to the swirling of the ribbon in the wind, it is a cleverly put together to re-create a fantastic feel of the character. To create that anime look, special makeup has been applied to create the anime eyes, and contacts to add more of an effect to it. The pale face and slim build really brings together the entire costume, also with the blade itself with the extruding gun. Great prop design went into this as in the other photos that the user “Sorayomi” has posted up really shows off the different uses of the katana. Her face expression makes everything look natural and not too contrived or posed. It is one of the best cosplay I’ve personally seen, and that is because of the entire look actually looks like the anime Blake jumped out of the anime world into ours. It is such a close rendition of the character and “Sorayomi” really fits the character and embraces it perfectly. Cosplay Review-Get Alice Madness Returns Cosplay idea

And here she is! Alice is refreshingly revived from the game Alice: Madness returns, in fantastic fashion by the user called ‘Kill the light’ on deviant art.  Not only do they bring out the vibrant reds, but the background with the blue Morpho’s surrounding her give the abstract feel of the character. She looks creepily attractive with her school girl look and bloodied hands but her subtle expression on her face would make her a person to die for. The whole entire cosplay costume is beautifully updated from our known current style to encompass the psychologically troubled Alice we have come to love. The long white hair stays perfectly white with all the blood spilled off her hands without a trace of it on her outfit. Together with the laced sequins from her waist, the old fashioned maid boudoir attire shouts out French influenced costume. The amount of detail in the cosplay outfit is amazing. From the small details of the small skull belt to the subtle use of the necklace and make up paled skin. Holding the blade almost exactly like the cover art for the PlayStation 3 release, the user ‘kill the light’ strikes poses that shows off not only the outfit but the makeup on her face and colour in her eyes. With the other photos it almost has a vampire look but keeps you familiar with Alice. One thing is for sure, if you did meet a girl like this coming after you then you wouldn’t know if to run or hide! Even after seeing a bloodied knife. It’s a beautifully, artistically and detailed cosplay outfit that although simple is also incredibly complex in design. Cosplay Review-Get Green Arrow Cosplay idea From The_Wolverine

It is a hard to find a great Green Arrow cosplay costume, even more so because of how many times the character has been re-invented. Most recently is the newer darker version that the hit TV series “Arrow” has taken upon the character. Here this hunky chap on cosplay.com has created a great Green arrow costume that makes you forget that it’s a man wearing tights. The costume keeps the character looking like a badass superhero with-out making him resemble a Robin Hood. Nether less the leather hooded gillet underlying the skin tight pants creates a comic feel but a more serious persona. Couldn’t you see this guy facing off against the brick? I sure can! As everything about the costume adds the brute persona the Green Arrow has. Normally wearing a mask without eye makeup could distract from any outfit and make it look cheap or out of place. Not here! The more open views for the eyes add more of a human feel to it. Add the person in the suite who has the look of a gritty Green Archer and a full body to match; I think it’s one of the best circling the net. Wouldn’t you agree? With the darker shades of Green on top with the lighter shades below, you can’t help but resemble the costume a mix of both. This is the outcome of the two put together and i must say it looks quite magnificent, with keeping with the old and bringing in the new. If you’re a Green Arrow fan or a follower of the TV series I am sure you will have admiration for the  portrayal this guy has put together. They also have many cosplay pictures where they show off their different varieties of costumes.

Finding cheap cosplay is a real great privilege which should not be wasted by any person who knows the worth of cosplay costumes. A costume like the Ciel costume is a fantastic cosplay costume which looks adorable when worn by any woman. Some cosplayers refer to it as Bule Ciel Phantomhive cosplay. The Ciel cosplay comes in 5 sets of accessories which include an eye, a bow, rings and shorts. Not forgetting the amazing coat that completes the nice look on the person wearing the cosplay costume. Get Fairy Tail Cosplay Idea-Interview with cosplayer Flaming-Goddess

Interview with cosplayer Flaming-Goddess -

Rachel a.k.a Flaming-Goddess is a cosplayer from Ohio, USA. She has cosplayed characters such as Mami Tomoe from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Boa Hancock from One Piece and Sakura Haruno from Naruto. Rachel is famously known for her cosplay of Nami from One Piece which is jaw-dropping. We at ProCosplay loved her incredibly cute cosplay of Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail. Let's get to know more about her!

Biography :-

Name - Rachel
Place - Columbus, OH
DOB - April 27
Fav Anime - One Piece, Madoka Magica, Fairy Tail, Chuunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai!, Gurren Lagann, and Shinsekai Yori.

1. How about you introduce yourself to the readers first?

Flaming Goddess :-
Hey there! My name is Rachel (alias Flaming-Goddess), and I'm a cosplayer from the US. I'm studying to be an opera singer, but in my free-time I enjoy making costumes, watching anime, and hanging out with friends.

2. What got you into cosplaying and for how long have you been cosplaying?

Flaming Goddess :-
I've been cosplaying for 5 years. I started watching Naruto when I was in middle school, but it wasn't until 2008 that I heard about an anime convention in Columbus callled Ohayocon. My mom and I put together a Timeskip Sakura Haruno cosplay the night before the con, and after that I was hooked.

Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail

3. Why did you choose to cosplay Lucy Heartfilia?

Flaming Goddess :-
A friend of mine had been bugging me to read Fairy Tail for a while, so I finally broke down and read it. I immediately connected with Lucy (and her ridiculous faces), and her character design was adorable to boot. I also fell in love with the series, so I knew I had to cosplay her. I'm planing on doing a couple of other versions of her in the future as well.

4. Could you give the readers some tips on cosplaying Lucy Heartfilia?

Flaming Goddess :-
Have fun with it! Lucy is a great character to cosplay because she has so many emotions and poses to portray. I really suggest styling your own wig, because you often see the same couple wigs with Lucy cosplayers, and in my opinion they aren't quite right.

Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail

5. Did you face any difficulties in cosplaying Lucy Heartfilia?

Flaming Goddess :-
Styling the wig and finding a good pattern for her shirt was definitely a little difficult. Because she has a side ponytail, I had a tough time finding a wig that would be thick enough to style and not show wefts so I would have to use a clip-in. Her shirt also is a little unique with its collar and form-fitting nature, but eventually I ended up using stretchy cotton and it worked perfectly.

6. What according to you are the pros and cons of cosplaying?

Flaming Goddess :-
Cosplaying definitely helped me meet a bunch of new, awesome people and travel out of Ohio to different conventions, as well as gain new skills like sewing and prop-work that I definitely would not have had if I hadn't gotten the hobby. But, unfortunately there is a lot of drama that comes with the hobby, as well as judgment from people who don't know about cosplaying. But, I try not to let any of that affect me. Cosplaying is also a bit of a money suck, with all the wigs, fabric, shoes, etc. that you buy to make your costume perfect.

Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail

7. Where do you often go for your photoshoots? How do you choose the background for a photoshoot?

Flaming Goddess :-
I usually do photoshoots on location at conventions with various photographers, but sometimes I work with a photographer here in Columbus at his studio. When I go to cons, I always end up scouting various locations that I think would look cool in pictures, so that usually helps me decided where to take pictures.

8. How do you view yourself as a cosplayer?

Flaming Goddess :-
I'm definitely still a beginner in a lot of ways, since I really only started making new costumes 2 years ago, but I've grown in a lot of ways when it comes to sewing things of various difficulties and prop work. I'm hoping to continue getting better and make new costumes and props!

Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail

9. Could you give some advice to the beginners out there?

Flaming Goddess :-
Don't be afraid to ask for help! My mom taught me how to sew and knew how to make so many things, and my dad knows more about wood working and building things than I ever will. They both have helped me so much with making my cosplays. Also, the Internet is your friend! There's a pretty good chance that the thing you're trying to make has a tutorial about it somewhere, and if there isn't, ask another cosplayer that you like how they did it. Cosplaying is all about fun, so choose something you'll enjoy making!

Interview with cosplayer Hakudoushi -

Inu x Boku SS Cosplay

Daniele a.k.a. Hakudoushi is a cosplayer and web designer from Italy. He has cosplayed characters such as Undertaker from Kuroshitsuji, Amaimon from Ao No Exorcist and Dark Magician from Yu-Gi-Oh. We at ProCosplay loved his spectacular cosplay of Miketsukami Soushi from Inu x Boku SS. Let's get to know more about him!

Biography :-

Name - Daniele
Place - Italy
DOB - 7th June 1989
Fav Anime - Really, really hard for me to say.... Evangelion if I should pick just one D:!

1. Could you introduce yourself to the readers?

Hakudoushi :-
Hi everyone, I'm Daniel alias "Hakudoushi" (yeah I wish I was him, it's my favorite character from my childhood, I love characters with white hair... They are fascinating and enigmatic).
I love videogames, anime and art.
Everything I love in my life started because it was related to an anime or a videogame, and I mean everything! Also my job: I started making websites about Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh and now... I'm a web designer :P

2. What inspired you to start cosplaying and for how long have you been cosplaying?

Hakudoushi :-
I've always loved cosplaying but I never took many picture of myself.
What changed everything was Kuroshitsuji. I never loved an anime characterization and clothing so much, I HAD to cosplay Ciel!
And this started everything, it's been fun. Not exactly cheap, but really funny.

Inu x Boku SS Soushi Miketsukami Cosplay

3. Why did you choose to cosplay Miketsukami Soushi?

Hakudoushi :-
The first time I saw Miketsukami I was like "WHOA NOSEBLEED ALL OVER"... No, really, that's what I said. I like his mystery aura and I find the design of this character extremely original.
If you want me to be a little deeper, I would say that everyone wants to wear a mask acting like a character we are cosplaying, mostly because we want to be like that character in some way.
I love his blind devotion for Ririchiyo. One day, I would like to have a "blindly devotion" for someone.

4. Could you give the readers some tips on cosplaying Miketsukami Soushi?

Hakudoushi :-
Well, first you have to know how to make the traditional japanese outfit, of course. That's the easiest part, not really hard to craft!
Remember to chose a good fabric because white fabric can look often like "hospital-like" clothes, and we don't want this in Miketsukami, do we!
The hardest part is making the tails. They have to stand up and make you look handsome just like the character. Use an iron thread inside them, and use a solid one! (not too much, you're going to need to adjust them once you're in the convention).
Also, learn how to wield a Katana properly

Inu x Boku SS Soushi Miketsukami Cosplay

5. What do you think about the cosplay scene in your country, Italy?

Hakudoushi :-
I don't like Italy in many MANY way, but for some reason I love the cosplay scene. Of course there are people you don't want to deal with, but so is everywhere.
The conventions are good and well organized! Just consider "Lucca Comics", I love it. I saw "Madoka Magica" movie and I met the author of "Mirai Nikki", Sakae Esuno, it was really exciting.
If you want to come in Italy, come in october-november so you wont miss it!

6. What has been your most exciting/memorable cosplay experience to date?

Hakudoushi :-
Probably Undertaker from Kuroshitsuji. It's been hard with those heels. REALLY hard, but I don't regret a single moment cosplaying it. I loved making his scythe and acting creepy like him.

Inu x Boku SS Soushi Miketsukami Cosplay

7. What is the most difficult cosplay challenge you've faced so far? How did you pull it off?

Hakudoushi :-
Hmmm... Probably it was the "make-up" part. I didn't like myself with make-up on, especially eyeliner on my eyes. I skipped a convention once because I didn't like myself at all and stayed at home D:
I solved it avoiding characters that have the eyeliner in a particular way. The hardest part of cosplaying is that you wont probably fit all of the characters you like. Understanding this you will only make good cosplays, hard life lesson ARGH.

8. In what way has cosplay changed your life?

Hakudoushi :-
I didn't have so many friends, I wasn't really so happy as I am now and I had nothing else to express myself.
The last one is the most important. I think that if you find something you can express yourself into, you find also happiness.

Inu x Boku SS Soushi Miketsukami Cosplay

9. Any piece of advice for the cosplay virgins out there?

Hakudoushi :-
Just be yourself. If you have a character that you love and you think it wouldn't fit you, reinvent it so you will look good.
Choose a beautiful wig that fits you, don't have a one-track mind with the character's details. NO ONE can be exactly as an anime/videogame character, cosplaying it isn't about being maniacs for details, and it's the most common error people do!
Just think "how would the character be if it was real?". Reality is different, sadly.
And the most important thing is HAVING FUN, if you have fun making a cosplay and acting like the character you will definitely make a perfect cosplay :)
