1. Could you introduce yourself to the readers?
Zimiel :- Hi! I'm a cosplayer from Australia, and when I'm not cosplaying I'm a university student. I love books and movies and running around outside in nice weather *3*
2. What inspired you to start cosplaying and for how long have you been cosplaying?
Zimiel :- I first heard about cosplay in 2008 when a friend of mine was doing it - and I thought it sounded like a wonderful way to bring characters and stories that I love to life, while doing something creative and productive at the same time! I first cosplayed in 2009 ^_^
3. Why did you choose to cosplay Barnaby Brooks Jr.?
Zimiel :- My favourite character is actually Kotetsu-san, but I don't suit him physically...so I cosplayed Barnaby! XD That said, I find his character very interesting, and it was great fun to try and convey his narrative through photos *3*
4. Could you give the readers some tips on cosplaying Barnaby?
Zimiel :- Hot rollers, a ridiculous amount of hairspray, make that jacket nice and slim-fitting, and try all of the fabulous poses! Barnaby doesn't just stand normally...he poses XD
5. Do you see yourself cosplaying in 10 years?
Zimiel :- I'd like to think so, but who really knows where life will take us ^^
6. What is the most difficult cosplay challenge you've faced so far? How did you pull it off?
Zimiel :- My most difficult cosplay challenge was making all of the cyber-punk style equipment when I cosplayed Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. I got there in the end by just sloggin away at it, and using a surprising and weird combination of materials!
7. Are you working on any costume(s) currently?
Zimiel :- I am currently sewing a costume for Judal from Magi.
8. What is your favourite part about cosplaying?
Zimiel :- Bringing characters and stories to life through photo narrative in shoots! And getting to meet all of the amazing and wonderful people from across the world who also cosplay <3
9. Can you give some advice to the beginners out there?
Zimiel :- Choose characters that suit you physically, but don't be afraid to use makeup to make yourself look more like them! Eye makeup and facial contouring are the most important things a cosplayer can do!
